Law Exam! Passed!

Finally, the long awaited exam finally ended. This law exam has been postponed from Sunday to today, the 27th of November 2007. Man, last night I burn the midnight oil, trying to complete the 500 questions, and I managed to do so. Lucky me. FYI, this law test is not to become a lawyer, but it’s the first stage to be driving on the road.

I woke up around 7.30am today, take a quick bite and drank mushroom cheese soup. I was kinda nervous at that time because a lot of my senior friends failed in this law exam. I kept wondering whether I would pass the exam or not….

After getting prepared, my father took me to the venue where the test is being conducted. I waited for about 10 minutes and one of my friends came with her mother. We had a drink in the coffee shop downstairs while waiting for the other 2 to arrive. I had a hunch that time that I couldn’t pass the exam. But still, it was about time to face reality. When the driving tutor arrived, we head up to the exam hall and started registering ourselves. It’s not registering via papers, but using computer. We have to scan our thumbprints (like the ones in CSI) for acknowledgement and admittance to the exam hall. Just imagine, how far Malaysia has come to use such advance technology.

We took some trouble with the thumbprint because there’s a little malfunction (I guess) with the scanner. 3 of my friends have problems scanning their thumbprints but as for me, the first try was already a success. The people in charged ordered me to enter the hall and use the 1st computer. When I entered the hall (it’s a room actually), I was a little uneasy. But then, when I sat down and started typing in my IC number, I was suddenly overwhelmed by confidence. Weird huh? There are 2 parts of the exam, the first was the color blind test. Well guys, you’ve heard it, color blind test. If you happen to be color blind, I’m sorry to tell that you can’t drive! Haha! It’s easy for the color blind test and I scored the maximum marks. Then next, to the actual law exam. 50 questions in total and the minimum passing mark is to get AT LEAST 42 questions right and above. Or else, *hiak hiak*, you’ll fail and need to re-sit for the test. It’s not cheap to re-sit though, worth RM30 (oh well, there goes for the 1 month reload).

Question 1 to question 30 was easy, or maybe because the questions asked is exactly in the 500 questions that I’ve done last night. It’s more about road signs, which is common sense to me. But after question 35, it is not as easy as expected. Time is ticking and there’s no time to spare, I just shoot some of the questions that I really couldn’t answer and hope that it’s the right one. The nervousness began to arouse even more at the last 10 questions where questions asked is about the actually law, what akta-akta and demerit marks yada yada yada~ (Now that’s really a pain in the neck). Finally, I completed the 50 question and hesitated on clicking on the ‘keputusan’ icon because I was afraid that I would fail. In the end, It takes up much courage for me to click that damn a single icon (what the heck? LoL).

And the results is (drums rolling)
1/50? Nah, I scored 48/50. 2 mistakes in total. It’s simply unbelievable and I couldn’t believe my eyes. But that’s the fact. I’ve passed! My effort didn’t go to waste after all. After getting the result slip, I handed over to the driving tutor and I could finally breathe at ease! After a long chat with the tutor while waiting for my friend’s car to arrive, me and my friend Chua Soon Ho headed towards our tutors ‘Kancil Zai’ and the tutor drove us back home. He is a kind and sociable person, can talk in many languages and understands the life of a teenager. We actually talked about teenage issues and latest news. Cool huh? To me, all those criteria that he instilled into himself, made him a famous driving tutor.

So guys, good luck to ya’ll if you are having your law exam soon. Till next time!

Badminton Training

Hello again! I'm supposed to blog about this 2 days ago, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do so. And since I’m damn bored now, might as well do myself a favor and start blogging about activities for your view.

So, last Sunday, the 25th of November, I went for badminton training for the first time this year, apart from when I was form 1. It's been quite a long time since I've attended badminton training, which was 3 years ago, like i said, when i was in form 1. The venue is Stapok, somewhere near Batu Kawah. If any one of you who doesn't know where it is and YET you live in Kuching, you might as well make an appointment with a counselor so you won't commit suicide.

2pm sharp I reached the Stapok Indoor Badminton complex. Waited for my friends for about 10 minutes and entered the complex. My friend, Kelvin Lee, who was the leader(basically not the leader, it's just cos' he has been train before by the coach) approached the coach, named Arrifin(I hope i spelt it correctly) and started talking business, the heck, wait, not business, just some discussion about our purpose going to him for training (Duh~).

Arrifin is a 60 years old (WHAT? 60 years old? Yeap you got it right, 60 years old) coach who teaches badminton very well. Many of my friends who have been under his jurisdiction turn out to be Pros in badminton, including the 'leader'. Alright, 2.30pm we officially started our training. We do some warm-ups by stroking and continued with some major foot works. Not to say major, just some basic movements to catch a ball when it's about to drop to the right. Then, a 1 to 1 stroke with the coach and his assistant (man, they are invincible >.<") that will be tiring part because it takes up a lot of energy to return the smashes and drop-shots by the coaches. But it's quite fun though~

After that, we have a 1-1 stroke with the normal trainees. Well, basically we are the new ones but our skills are off better than the existing trainees, but I’m far off weaker compared to my friends who came along for the training together. That was about 3.30pm if I’m not mistaken. Training lessons were off that time. We just continued with our strokes to kill time. Not bad though, 1st day was a relief as I thought it would be harder than I expected. I have this perception is because when i was in form 1, I attended badminton training before and the 1st day of training left me half-conscious. The intense training, footwork and pressure by the coach is great enough to demoralized you, and you'll suffer tremendous aches especially at the joints and muscles as well. Well, thank god this time isn’t that bad, maybe because friends are there, or the coach is just being lenient to us newbies? (Hope not).

So that wraps most of it. Till next time.

Leyna Charity Ballet Concert 2007

Wassup guys. It’s been quite a while since I blogged in, was tied with with activities over the past few days and I couldn’t spare sometime to blog about it.

Alright, the 1st activity is Leyna Charity Ballet Concert 2007. This event is large-scaled, and I really mean it by LARGE. Even YB Tan Sri Dato George Chan is the guest of honor for the 1st nite. This project is divided into 2 shifts. The first shift is on the 23rd of November (Friday) and the second shift on the following day. The organizer is the one and only Ley Na, a renowned ballet teacher in Kuching. She is talented in ballet till the extend that she owns a whole troupe of ballerinas and she has 3 prima ballerinas, very expert. Even the younger ones come to her for ballet lessons, amazing. She’s one of the members of our sponsoring club, Lions Club of Kuching Ixora. So, it’s our duty to assist her.

This project is held at Batu Lintang Teacher’s College (BLTC) which is the largest auditorium (or maybe the second largest, but clean and equipped with up-to-date facilities) in Kuching. We Leos are in charged of ushering, reception, collecting donations and for the boys, what else, carry the probes! The aim of this major project by Ley Na is to raise funds, and I’m saying a few Thousands for the SSPCA, the AIDS and HIV Society.

So, in this post I won’t be enclosing pictures as they are still in the zip file and it takes time to unzip it, and I also have many activities to post later. In this case, if you want to know more about the ballet, kindly visit Chua Soon Ho’s blog at http://jackiechua.blogspot.com/. In his blog, he added in photos of that night with some funny and cool captions. Feel free to visit his blog for more detailed information.

That’s about it.

ITS Graduation Day

Well folks, I just came back from my International Tuition School (ITS) Graduation day. The highest standard is secondary 4, and this year, majority of my friends managed to graduate. Congratulations to them and of cos', to me. Haha! Today, I woke up at 12.15pm, probably too tired after playing too much dota last night. I took a quick bite and get myself dressed for the graduation day. The details of the ceremony are as below:

Time: 2pm till 5pm.
Venue: Kuching Park Hotel
Dresscode: Semi-formal (but I still see people coming in with coats and jeans @.@)

At 1.25pm, I was already on my way there. Lucky for me, there was no traffic congestion, if not, heh, I won't make it in time. When I reached at the venue, I was shocked to see my uncle there, waiting for passengers. He's a taxi driver, so it's normal to see him around hotels picking up guest, no? After having a few words with him, I proceeded to the 1st floor. The place where the ceremony was held is called the Lotus ballroom (if I’m not mistaken), it's miserably small and it could only fit maximum 20 tables. Oh well, I guess ITS is cutting cost eh? XD

The ceremony started according the schedule, 2pm sharp. The 1st agenda is a speech presented by Sandra Ling, the founder/director and head principal of ITS(I never know one could hold that many positions in an organization?) Her speech lasted for at least 15 minutes, a boring one I could say. And even worse, the PA sucks! The sound is not loud enough, voice projection not clear too, how'd you expect me to keep still and listen? So, I ended up talking and mingling around with friends instead. At around half past two, it's time for the ceremony. Our names are called 1 by 1 to go up on stage and receive the certificates. ( It's just a normal piece of papers with letters and names printed on it, being sarcastic here XD) Now here's something interesting. When it was my teacher's turn (Mrs. Jennifer Petruce a.k.a The Drama Queen, probably the best english teacher even taught me) to go up and distribute the certificates, our class members, err, lemme rephrase that, ALL who are present gave their loudest clap ever, unlike the other teachers or even the principal didn't receive such applause before *grins* Shhh, don't mention this out, or else i'll be slaughtered! Haha! The presentation of The Best Student Award followed by. (And the award goes toooo~ yada yada yada, I don't know her name, my bad XD) And guess what, the time coordinated for the presentation of award is 2.50pm, AND the real thing started at 2.50pm, sharp, not even a second less or more(in a metaphoric way).

Sooner after that, the emcees invited the coordinator to give a speech, but thank god it's a short one. The whole ceremony ended with the photo talking of each class along with teachers and the higher-ups.

*Group photo of our class, the Sec 4J hour*

After the formal functions are over, we all head down to the coffee house and have our high tea. Well, all I could say that our class has the most boys, and ya'll know, boys can really eat right? Tommy, one of our top eaters during the High Tea, started his move, we followed behind. We took plates and plates of sandwiches, fried beehon and curry chicken. Even before we started eating, our table is already full of foods. Just within 10 minutes, all the sumptuous foods disappeared. (Guys, you could imagine how hungry we are XD) Whenever there's a refill, we are always the first one to be at the spot to grab some more of em'. After having our meal, we took pictures with friends and our very beloved teacher.

                                *My hungry friends*

See all the plates on the table? Well, it's our piece of art XD The guy in white and orange are 'The Best Eater of the day' Haha! They really eat as though they had never see food before, uncivilized in another word. But what to do, the food is there and it's free, no one could resist that temptation. I remembered a phrase that they said "I've been studying for ITS for the past 7 years, ITS earned a lot of money, now it's time for revenge!" I laughed my head off when I heard them said that. But basically what they said is true, that I agree. To me, that very moment seem to be our very last time we eat, play and interact with each other, although we live in Kuching or even in the same school. When the food stopped refilling, we started monopolizing the drinks! I bet the waiter was cursing us for drinking that much. Haha! We then took pictures with friends and our teacher.

            * My Sec 4 teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Petruce in green*

That was about 3.45pm and the crowd began to disperse. We took our initiatives by taking down each others' phone number for contact purposes and bid
farewell. It's sad to see my friends, one by one stepping out of the hotel's entrance heading towardstheir transport. Oh well, happy moments has it's ending too huh? *sigh*

That's all folks, I'll write up till here. More to come soon!

The sales was held at the Lions Nursing Home, which is located around Stutong Baru right after the BDC housing estates. The Guess of Honor is Datin Leila, our very own Chief Minister's spouse. The sales was held to raise fund for the Home in order to purchase equipments and of cos' to solicit as much money as possible to aid the old folks in the home. So, as Leos, we helped out in selling foods to raise funds. There were 12 of us from our school's Leo Club participated in this activity. Half of the members assisted our Sponsoring Lions Club whereas the other half were busy doing business. That day, I woke up at around 7am and get myself geared up for the event. I quickly grabbed my bag, a bottle of water, a pen and of cos' my vest. The vest of a Leo Club varies, and it's the only way the recognize a Leo by his vest and which Leo Club he/she belongs to.

My Leo Vest

That morning was a bit of a hassle, we went there quite early and we already started selling most of the foods. If I'm not mistaken, the Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak was the first to go, followed by the Steamed Chicken Rice. All of em' are my favorites too. About an hour later, almost half of all the foods sold are gone, mainly bought by our own Leos XD The food is simply tempting, no joking~ Although it's expensive as it's main objective is to raise funds, but it's worth every single penny! Owh how I wish I could have them now for supper. Haha! We managed to sell every single packet within one and a half hours, unbelievable eh? And guess what, we manage to raise RM250++ just within 2 hours in total. Job well done Leos! After 2 hours of selling, our Leos can finally breathe at ease. And we started loitering around, providing help whenever they are needed. Some bought ice-creams and drinks to kill off the thirst, some bought foods to fill up their empty tanks after 2 hours of hard work. We really had a great time there despite the fatigue.

This year's sell is more unique in the sense that there's Karaoke competition, and Digi promotion.(Does that mean the Yellow Men are there?) Yes, you bet they're there alright! They are 2 Digi promoters cosplaying as The Yellow Men in those Digi Advertisement. They go around fooling with people, taking pictures and acting strangely just to arouse the crowd's attention. There's 1 time where my friend was calling for his transport, and the Yellow Man followed him behind, stood beside him and imitated my friend's every single move like holding the phone and pointing here and there while talking. All of us laughed our heads off, seriously, he's one hell of a good cosplayer I've seen around. I even took photos with one of them, they really look the same as in the advertisements(I will follow you~), just that their faces aren't that yellow >.<" LoL!

A photo of me with the Yellow Men from Digi

It's indeed a tiring day, but we gained lots of experience and had lots and lots of fun, especially with the Yellow Mens, i must agree that their mimics are simply the best i ever seen before, I wonder how they could stand being stuffed in that yellow suit =.=? Anyways, that day was superb. We met new Leos, befriended new friends and of cos' served the community with the best of our abilities!

Hip Hip, Hooray~!

That's all guys, till next time, tata~!

Ernest's birthday PartYyy

Since 1 of my friend said that i should write more about my life instead of writing like a critic, so let me add in some spice to my blog then. Finally, about my life, well? Today, I’ve attended 1 of my friend's birthday party. It's great although there were only 10 of us, including the birthday boy himself. But poor Ernest received only 6 presents if I’m not mistaken, but i'm sure he had one hell of a time.

I arrived there at 7.15pm, and I’m counted late. Reason, I played too much DOTA till i forgotten the time. If i'm not mistaken, i finished dota at 6.45pm and ended up rushing the hell out of me just to take bath and get dressed into a decent attire. When i was in my car and just about to depart, guess what happened? I nearly forgotten to bring along his present. At that split second, once again, rushed out of da car just to get the darn present. If not, Ernest will only have a miserable 5 presents....

Oh yea, his house is quite hard to find, or maybe I’m suffering from night blindness, nearly got lost on the way. But thank god i reached there in time. At that time i was the latest, as anticipated, well, cos' of playing too much Dota? Haha! Once i stepped down of the car, the dog greeted me with a 'friendly' welcome, or should i say barking instead =.= When i entered, everyone was enjoying themselves with the TV, a plasma home theatre set. I was amazed to see 80% of the people present are GIRLS, only me and poor Ing Thian are the only boys around, opps, and of cos' the birthday boy himself, my bad. We started of taking pictures together with his birthday cake, specially made birthday cake which resembles a goats' face, which is relevant to our Zodiac sign, the goat. We arranged the candles around the innocent face and another candle on the nose of the goat, Ouch! But, it looks cute though~

After taking photos as remembrance, it's time to sing the ' Happy birthday song ' (lame to me but, oh well, it's tradition, no?)

* The crowd sings*
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to Ernest,
Happy birthday to you~

And there goes the cake-cutting ceremony. I was gasping for air at that time cos' it's so DAMN hot. Finally, the air cond is up and running and i finally could breatheee~ Erm, ignore that, just adding some personal touch in it >.<" After everyone filled up their empty tanks, it's gaming time. As always, 2 groups are formed and we started playing some odd games which thy birthday boy came up with. The first 1 is more like a tongue-twister. Everyone sat in a circle and started shouting the dates in the week. It's not that simple though, the days are to be shouted in 3 different type of language, namely English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese. Those who failed to continue the pace will be punished, by drinking mild SARSI drink. Doesn't taste that bad either, still edible. For instance, I start by shouting Monday and the person sitting beside me is supposed to carry on the pace by shouting Selasa and the following person must shout Wednesday(in Chinese), and it goes on and on. And well, our team somehow won, not bad eh? The next game is more of a hybrid of the ideas came up by Ernest and the games played on in those entertainment programmes on TV. Both teams ought to send a representative and play rock paper scissors. The person who won is eligible to taunt the loser in anyway he wanted to. And guess what, we won again! That's about the games we played.

It was a quarter past nine and it's happy hour. Some played the piano, some just loiter, some even started talking on the phone and sms. At that time, more and more people began to disperse. The 'unbearable' noise and shouting as though dissipates into the skies in an instance, and thus i took the initiative to bid the birthday boy goodbye as i walk out of the entrance heading towards Ing Thian's car. It was a indeed great night, a memorable one I could say...

That wraps up most of it, till next time.

Competitions...

What makes people move forward, venture even deeper into the unknown? Competition? A lot of my friends who do well in studies often told me that competition is often the one making them strive to get good results. No competition means no 'kick' to study even harder. But what makes them think like that? Is it by competing they will feel much happier if they won. But what if they lost that competition? It's funny how people torment themselves to be the best in life, to be the most outstanding and thus hurting them in the process. If they lost, they will be deeply depressed about it, or anguish in other words.

Sometimes, human compete with each other to impress their bosses, hoping to have lucrative jobs. Even attending job interviews, those who are applying for the jobs will have to compete with one another so that they can have the spot in that firm. A very simple example is the renowned reality TV show ' The Apprentice '. Although we fight to earn a living but does it have to be that extreme till the extend of criticizing, mocking and demoralized our friends, not to mention best friends? It's happening now and then where cases of squabbles among friends especially in career. One of them lost to another 1, making them not satisfied thus this cat and mouse fight happened. The fact is, competing against each other is just another way of promoting hatred. In every competition, there is always a winner and a loser. The unlucky one earned the title of a loser while the other walk away with fame and pride and also recognition from his/her boss hence getting a better claim. What does the loser get? NOTHING, nothing but shame and jealousy. This is where criticism and conspiracy comes in, where the loser will be bombarding all sorts of worthless claims about the winner. Before that, let's give it a serious thought, if he/she does not involve in such situations, will all of this be happening to him?

Not only among friends, but among nations too. Take for example, X country wants to compete with Y country but failed in the process, and thus cold war happens, or even worse, war. The main cause for making them compete is to show who is the greatest among all, and for them, losing is not an option for them at all. So, let's just imagine what would the world be if it's just one small competition caused the world to meet it's doom? Wouldn't it be better if they did not compete at the first place and focus more on how to remedy their weaker spots? Some people thinks that they are flawless, thus organizing competitions to show how great they are, but to me, it's just a one day of fame and glory. What if he lost to a newbie the next time? Trust me, the shame will be double of what he get from being too egoistic about himself. For instance, Taufik Hidayat, a famous Indonesian badminton player lost to an Indian newbie, Anup. But lucky for him, he is still a respectable one.

Competition is like putting our pride on the line, if we lost, and that's it. And if we won, well, congratulations. For me, receding from a competition is better, although we are marked 'chicken-wuss' for not participating in that competition, at least we still can maintain our pride and of cos' respect as well. Many people have different perceptions about competitions, but this is what made me up till now. The utmost important thing to make sure we are flawless and strong is to get rid of our weakness and not showing only our strongest part in life~

That's all,

Jealousy

This will be my first official post for my blog. Been quite awhile since i blogged in. So, today's topic is related to human psychology - Jealousy. What is jealousy? It's simple; it's an uncomfortable feeling that bugs one over someone's achievements which, he/she is unable to achieve. The cause of such feelings is still unknown till now. But to really portray a clear picture of jealousy, just ask ourselves, recall the times where we feel dejected and cast aside or intimidated due to other people's achievements. Be it in career or love life, jealousy implies.

For example, a workaholic who works 24 hours a day round the clock only receive a mere recognition from his or her boss whilst another person who does less job and enjoy all day long got all the credits despite his or her hard work. Of course, the feeling of envy and jealous will surely be in the mind of the workaholic. It's funny how human develops and cultivates such feeling even that is still unknown to us. Let's head back to the old 1980s where life weren't that complicated and tormenting. People at that time lived and led a happy life, stress-free and jealousy never comes across their minds at all. They built up strong rapport among the communities and help out one another where there is in need of man power. As compared to now, life is like a cat and mouse race, where career and glory seems to be the jiest of life in every eye of mankind. Just imagine, just cause of career, people tend to fight for their lives for it, often leads to friendship breakdown and of course, cold war among colleagues. In turn, people despise one another, thinking that whatever their friends do comes with a motive to turn them down from their work. Maybe it's due to the burden that the labor have to carry, the necessity to earn money to cover up for their daily expenses, feeding those hungry mouths at home and etc. SO i could say that jealousy is normal.

Let's think rasionally, does being in a jealousy solve anything? It only leads to more hatred and if this persists, well, carnage? Maybe what I’m saying now contradicts what i have mentioned just now, but if you put your mind and ponder in another angle, jealousy too has a good side of it. Some people treats jealousy as though a challenge to change for the better, cravin’ to be the best, one tend to fight and venture even more deeper, grabbing every single details and information they could acquire to be the best, gain recognition and respect among others. In their point of view, jealousy is like a force boon for them to persevere, and to win. Their failure will be their first and the last, and this makes them strive to the end, to emerge victorious in a race. Come to think of it, it's funny that human is able to nurture this kind of thoughts and feelings into their system. Is it because people in the olden days often vie against one another? What i know that competition during the old times is mainly about proving that one is able to be the chief of a tribe. Even this 'sick' tradition applies to animals. So does that mean that we are more or less like animals too? And of course, jealousy is followed by killing. Some people who could not accept the fact they lost will be driven to murder. People often think that murder is due to hatred, but from my perception, jealousy is the cause of all those brutal killings. But the fact is still the fact; jealousy is part and parcel of our life. Don't tell me that there is no one who do not feel jealous, not even the slightest matter in life, that is a squabble among siblings, which the other sibling got something new and he/she doesn't have it? If that person does not get jealous, then Icould say that he/she is one in a million, or in short, they're non-homosapiens XD

It's more like a chain reaction in life, jealous -> hatred -> malice -> killing spree. Until now, there is no remedy for jealousy. What people always do to distract that feeling is by singing, watching TV, eating, praying and gulping alcohols. If you say that it's the only cure for jealousy, then I would fully advocate to that statement. Jealousy is just a feeling, a phenomenon which we could never eradicate, like a parasite living in us. We cannot do anything to cure it, but just to abide to its will. The only thing we can do is to control those feelings, so that it will not evolve into hatred, thus life won't be that chaotic~

That's all for today's topic~ Stay tuned for more XD
